तमिलनाडु के कुन्नूर में वायुसेना के हेलीकॉप्टर क्रैश में चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल बिपिन रावत और उनकी पत्नी मधुलिका रावत का निधन हो गया। वायु सेना ने ट्वीट करके जानकारी दी कि हेलीकॉप्टर में सवार 14 में से 13 लोगों की मौत हुई है। ग्रुप कैप्टन वरुण सिंह का इलाज चल रहा है। इस घटना को लेकर पूरे देश में शोक की लहर दौड़ पड़ी। मधुलिका रावत के भाई यशवर्धन सिंह ने
बताया कि इस हादसे की खबर बहुत देरी से पता चली। जब हमें न्यूज़ चैनल और परिजनों से इसके बारे में सूचना मिली तो हमने सेना में संपर्क किया। वहां से हमें जानकारी दी गई कि कुन्नूर में हेलीकॉप्टर क्रैश हुआ है जिसमें आपकी बहन भी थी। यशवर्धन सिंह ने बताया कि रात में ही हमारी फ्लाइट सेना द्वारा की गई जिससे हम दिल्ली पहुंच सकें।

बिपिन रावत और मधुलिका रावत से हुई आखिरी मुलाकात को याद करते हुए यशवर्धन सिंह ने कहा कि पिछले दशहरा के दौरान हमारी बेटी के साथ उन्होंने पूजा की थी। उनसे हमारी 10 दिन पहले बातचीत भी हुई थी। इस दुखद हादसे ने हमसे सब कुछ छीन लिया।

About the Vipin Rawat

Bipin Laxman Singh Rawat was born in Hindu Garhwali Rajput familyin Pauri town of Pauri Garhwal district, modern-day Uttarakhand state, on 16 March 1958.[18][19] His family had been serving in the Indian Army for multiple generations. His father Laxman Singh Rawat was from Sainj village of the Pauri Garhwal district and rose to the rank of Lieutenant General. His mother was from the Uttarkashi district and was the daughter of Kishan Singh Parmar, the ex-Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Uttarkashi.

Rawat attended Cambrian Hall School in Dehradun and St. Edward's School in Shimla.[24] He then joined the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, from where he graduated first in the order of merit and was awarded the 'Sword of Honour'.

Rawat was also a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and the Higher Command Course at the United States Army Command and General Staff College (USACGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 1997. From his tenure at the DSSC, he obtained an MPhil degree in Defence Studies as well as diplomas in Management and Computer Studies from the University of Madras. In 2011, he was awarded a honorary doctorate by CCS University, Meerut for his research on military-media strategic studies.
